A funeral service celebrating the life of Stewart Charles “Pops” Smith, age 77, of Wheelersburg, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Israel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Stewart was born October 22, 1948 in Braddock, Pennsylvania to the late Stewart Edwin and Martha Adaline (Adamson) Smith. He passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Best Care Health and Rehab in Wheelersburg.

A 1967 graduate of Heath High School, Stewart was employed with Walker Manufacturing for 25 years and retired from Armor Source, both in Hebron. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and raised and bred dogs. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher (Trina) Smith and Stewart M. (Alyssa) Smith; grandchildren, Israel Smith, Zachary Smith, Zach (Billie) Wilson, and Bailey (Caleb) Mills; brother, Frank (Leslie) Smith; sister, Marie Spur; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Deloris (Montgomery) Smith, whom he married November 11, 1972 and who passed away on March 31, 2017.
