It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley A. Crawford, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, in Newark, OH. Born on July 10th, 1939 in Gladwin, Michigan, Shirley led a life full of love, kindness, and dedication, touching the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
Shirley spent over four decades as a dedicated food service worker in the Newark City School system. Her warm smile and caring nature left an indelible mark on students and colleagues alike. Before her cherished career in the schools, Shirley worked in the ticket office at the Midland Theatre, a place where she combined her love for the arts and community engagement.
Family was the cornerstone of Shirley’s life. She is survived by her loving children, Daniel H. Crawford, Jr., Brian S. Crawford, and Terry W. Crawford. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Daniel Crawford III, Melissa (Jack) Crawford, April Crawford, Michael (Ashley) Crawford, Megan Crawford, and Kevin (Bianca) Crawford, and her treasured great grandchildren, Austin Crawford, Madison Crawford, Jay Cummings, Landon Cummings, Layla Cummings, Sorai Cummings, Riquelle Cummings, Tristan Cummings, Justin Crawford, Corbin Crawford, Arya Crawford, Bella Dailey, Jordyen Crawford, Zachariah Dailey, Paisley Crawford, Willow Crawford and Westyn Crawford. Shirley is also survived by her brother, Harry Agin, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Evelyn Agin, her devoted husband, Daniel H. Crawford, Sr., her brother Paul "Leo" Agin, her great-grandson, Eastyn Stone, and her sister-in-law, Carleen Agin.
Shirley's passions were as diverse as her talents. She deeply enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening, and crafting with her knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint hobbies. An admirer of music, especially Elvis Presley, Shirley found joy in each melody. Her love for animals and dedication to their welfare was reflected in her support for the Licking County Humane Society, a cause close to her heart.
