Sally Kay (Handel) Penrose, age 82, passed away on April 11, 2026, at Johnstown Pointe in Johnstown, Ohio. She was born October 8, 1943, in Newark, Ohio to the late Archie and Katherine (Redman) Handel.

In addition to her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Spencer King Penrose and brothers, Larry and Donald (Pat) Handel. She is survived by her daughters, Linda R. Penrose, Kathy L. Wilson and Amy B. (JR) Schaaf; sister, Luanne (Handel) Utter; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Wilson, Miranda Harvey, Benjamin (Alli) Wilson and Mason Penrose; great grandchildren, Lyric Wilson, Maddie Gillman, Iris Wilson and Ezra Harvey.

Sally Graduated from Newark High School in Newark, Ohio and from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio with a Bachelor of Education. She was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Newark, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and proudly sang in the choir. Sally was also a member of the local Emmaus Community in Newark, Ohio and enjoyed going to gatherings and her Share Group. Sally volunteered at the local Food Pantry for many years, one of Sally’s Passions was being a Girl Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Always telling stories and singing songs by a campfire, one of her many talents was chair caning. Having caned many chairs for many people and teaching classes at the local trade school CTec (formerly JVS).

Sally was one of a kind. She was truly beautiful and loved nature, animals, art and most of all her family. With her gone she has certainly left a void in all our lives. Per Sally’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
