Painesville

Russell Alfred “Russ” Carr, age 65, of Painesville, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Russell was born April 1, 1960 in Leominster, Massachusetts to the late George Archie and Barbara Ann (Bousquet) Carr.

Russell was a 1982 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He was employed with the Avery Dennison Corporation in Painesville where he was an ink production supervisor.

Russ was described by his family as an incredible man. He enjoyed life very much and passed on so much wisdom to them. A devoted family man, he delighted in documenting family occasions through videos, ensuring that memories were captured for generations to come. Russ had a keen interest in coin collecting, actively participating in several coin clubs, where he cultivated lasting friendships.

Nature was another canvas for Russ’s enthusiasm. He was an avid flower gardener, nurturing beauty in his own yard. His fascination with the night sky branded him a "backyard astronomer," as he loved stargazing, discovering, and sharing the wonders of constellations with those around him. A motorcycle aficionado, Russ found joy and freedom on the open road, and his allegiance to the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox was unwavering.

Russ will be greatly missed by his loving family which includes his step-children, Paula (Michael) Bruesch of Newark, Eileen (Scott) Nichols of McKinney, Texas, and Daniel (Sheila) Thibodeau of Cheektowaga, New York; grandchildren, Melissa Edmiston, Ashley (Andrew) Cummings, Alisha (Chris) Gagnon, Andrew (Carla) Fournier, Bryan (Alice) Burney, Brittany Nichols, Kayla (Michael) Newland, Kyle (Mackenzie) Nichols, Anna (Cody) Paxton, and Sarah Nichols; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Len Carr of Ocean, New Jersey and Tom (Stacy) Carr of Deerfield, New Hampshire; nieces, Alyssa Carr and Nicole Carr; and grandniece, Vivian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly (Curtis) Carr, in June of 2005; grandson-in-law, Stephen Edmiston; and a great-grandson, Isaiah Newland.

The family will observe a private celebration of Russell’s life.

Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Russell and his family.
