Robert D. Jones

Robert D. Jones, a beloved resident of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on Wednesday, November 18, 1964, in Newark, Ohio, Robert spent his life embracing and sharing the warmth of his hometown with family and friends.

A devoted son, brother, uncle, and partner, Robert is survived by his loving mother, Viola (Baum) Jones; his siblings, Sherry (Mike) Mills, Carrie (Randy) Geiger, Mike (Jana) Jones, and Mary (Mike) Seipel; and his cherished girlfriend, Shellie Beckman. He also leaves behind his treasured niece and nephews, Steve (Lee) Getman, Lori (Mike) Slivanya, and Matt (Jess) Jones; and numerous cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ovell K. Jones, and his nephew, Michael Getman.

Robert spent his career as a dedicated truck driver, a profession that suited his love for exploration and connection with people. Beyond his work, he was a passionate hunter and musician who could often be found playing the guitar and banjo. Robert was a master storyteller and jokester, known for his infectious laughter and mischievous spirit that brought joy to everyone around him. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help those in need.

Robert's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, located at 285 E. Main Street in Kirkersville, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., to share memories and offer condolences.

Robert enjoyed simple pleasures, like spending time with family and friends and watching old western TV shows, which kept the spirit of adventure alive within him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's honor to Ohio Living Hospice, at 9200 Worthington Road, Suite 300, Westerville, Ohio 43082, to ensure the continuation of compassionate care for others.
