Robert Stephen Hisey Jr. of Granville, OH passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on July 1st, 2025. He was 71 years old. Robert was born on December 4th, 1953, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Robert Stephen Hisey Sr. and Clara Theresa Hisey (Grier). He was the first to earn his Eagle Scout award in his Boy Scout troop and graduated from Archbishop Kennedy High School in 1972.

Bob entered the Air Force in September 1975. Throughout his time as an active-duty Airman, he served a total of 21 years with 14 years of foreign service. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from the University of Maryland Far East Campus and completed the Korean language course at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. His Primary specialties included Signals Intelligence Analysis 2 years, Cryptologic Linguist 5 years, Far East Cryptologic Linguist 14 years and 1 month. He graduated from the Senior NCO Academy in February of 1991. His illustrious career includes the following commendations. Air Force Achievement medal with 2 devices, Air Force Commendation Medal, Aerial Achievement Medial, Meritorious Service Medal with 6 devices, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with 2 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 devices, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with 2 devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 7 devices, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 6 devices, Air Medal with 11, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. In his final assignment Bob served at Kelly Air Force Base as a Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 67th Intelligence Group.

In Civilian life Bob continued his service to God, his country, and his community as Director National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) Alert Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and Senior Analyst, Modern Technologies Corporation. He served the Department of Defense as a foreign military liaison and interpreter in the Republic of Korea; recipient of the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), U.S. Air Force Civilian Achievement Medal, Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year award, and numerous USAF defense and service awards and recognitions including Foreign Language Lifetime Achievement Award, Department of the Air Force winner, and NASIC Wall of Honor Nominee. Bob noted his key achievement at NASIC was when he discovered critical open-source information which compromised threats to a future Presidential State visit to Israel and passed the information to Secret Service, leading to last minute travel plan revisions to safeguard the President and his staff.

Bob served his community and the youth of Ohio at all levels of the Boy Scouts of America (Scouts BSA) with local and national recognition including being named a Distinguished Eagle Scout, the Silver Antelope Award, the Silver Beaver Award, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor, James E. West Founders Award, Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award, Clyde Lamb Religious Award, and Distinguished Commissioner Award. He was a Master Mason in Beaver Valley Lodge #753, Grand Lodge of Ohio, F.&. A.M.

Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years Elizabeth Renee Hisey, his children Robert Stephen Hisey III (Gracie), Steven Lewis, and Kristin Lewis, brothers Scott Hisey (Jacqueline) and Michael Hisey, and his grandchildren Abigail, Joshua, Zoe, Reilly, Connor, Hannah, Sophie, and Clark. He now rests with his Mother, Father, Uncles, Aunts, and grandson Caleb all who he loved dearly.

Bob was an extraordinary individual who always went above and beyond the call of duty. He loved God, his country, his family and everyone he encountered fearlessly without thought of himself. We will miss his presence in our lives but are overjoyed that he has gone home to be with his best friend, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. In lieu of flowers please send any donations to Scouts BSA, the organization he loved dearly to support their mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

Bob’s family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 am at the Pickerington Church of Christ, 9645 Stoudertown Rd NW, Pickerington. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery.
