Robert Eugene Hendershot

Robert Eugene Hendershot, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at his home in Baltimore, Ohio surrounded by his family, just days shy of his 80th birthday. He was born on October 29, 1945, in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Leona (Spitler) and Roy Hendershot.

Bob honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, answering the call of duty from 1967 to 1971 after initially joining the Army Reserves in 1965 and briefly attending The Ohio State University. Bob was a respected 2nd generation dairy farmer and was actively involved with the FFA both on state and national levels, demonstrating his enduring commitment to agriculture and education. Bob retired in 2013 from the Liberty Union-Thurston School District, after 22 years of dedicated service. He was passionate about prayer and stood up for his belief that prayer should be brought back to schools. He also had a love for fishing.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Sherry Hendershot, who walked by his side through every journey; his children, Phillip Hendershot, Michael (Patricia) Hendershot, and Rebecca (Alan) Huber; grandchildren, Gabby, Caroline, and Aaron Huber, and Levi and Heidi Hendershot; niece, Julie (Rich) VanMeter; nephews, Buzz (Stephanie) McManus, Rob (Melinda) McManus, and Jesse (Becky) Hendershot.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Hendershot, and sister, Marleen (Dale) McManus.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 2:00pm with military honors. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
