Richard Wagner

Richard Wagner, age 71, of Westerville, passed away on June 29, 2025. Rick graduated from Manchester High School in New Franklin, Ohio, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. After their graduation and marriage Rick and his wife Carol relocated to Westerville where they raised two children and Rick worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Wendy’s International. His work was a testament to his keen intellect and attention to detail.

Richard had a lifelong love and appreciation of fine music and sang and toured internationally with the Wheaton Men’s Glee Club in college. Rick’s faith led him to share his gift for music with the choirs of every church he attended including the choirs of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Worthington and later Trinity Episcopal Church in Newark where he was known for his beautiful voice, his wit, and his humor.

He was a voracious reader, especially of science fiction, and his favorite answer to any question was “42.” He was also fascinated with the historical development, comparison and shooting of firearms, traveling with his family, and seeking out new culinary experiences to share with family and friends.

In addition to his father, Arthur Wagner, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol (Rodgers) Wagner, two children, Jaymie Wagner (Katherine) and Alison Bloom (Charles); grandchildren, Glenn, Savannah, Sierra, and Asher; and great-granddaughter, Esmé.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Janet (Brown) Wagner; and his brother Jeffrey Wagner.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27. There will be time to visit with the family beginning at 1:00 pm with the service to follow at 2:00 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newark, OH.
