A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard L. Mayes, age 84, of Thornville, was held on Wednesday, November 5, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Clifford Mason as celebrant. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery.
Dick was born May 29, 1941, in Henderson, West Virginia to the late Marvin Mayes and Leona Garey. He passed away on Wednesday October 29, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. (Treadway) Mayes in 2019, brothers, Jerry, Larry Roger.
Dick is survived by his children, Debbie (John) Fournier, Robert (Christina) Mayes and Laurie Green; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Alan) Riley, Anthony Colangelo, Carissa (Justin) Schacht, Daniel Mayes; great grandson, Jaxon Riley; sister, Shelva Jean Guisinger.
