It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Regina Gbwi Waite, who departed this life on Friday, June 26th, 2026, at the age of 73. Regina was born on Saturday, March 21st, 1953, and was a cherished resident of Newark, OH.
Regina led a life rich in love and service, exemplifying strength and dedication to her family and community. She was a beloved wife to Philip Andrew Waite, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage since their union on November 15, 1977. Together, they built a beautiful family and enjoyed traveling the world.
Regina is survived by her devoted children, Victoria Svennberg Ornerfors, Hans M. Noa, and Jacqueline L. Huett; her cherished grandchildren, Yanik Noa, Aethan Noa, Tristan Noa, Henry Huett, Benjamin Huett, Janna Eriksson, and Mikaela Eriksson; and her precious great-grandchildren, Nova, Leah, and Ivy. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Mary, Felicia, and brother Othelo. Regina's life was further enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiaka Jewki and Theresa Juah Siah, as well as many brothers and sisters. Regina was a gentle guide and the patriarch of her family, extending her kindness and support across continents by aiding her siblings in Africa.
Professionally, Regina dedicated nearly 15 years as a custodian at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she was revered for her diligence and commitment. Her work was not just a job but a testament to her steadfast work ethic and passion for service.
Outside of work, Regina relished time spent cooking for her family, a testament to her nurturing spirit. She was also an active participant in community and family events, consistently pursuing ways to enrich the lives of those around her.
A visitation will be held at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Newark, on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville. All who knew Regina and would like to honor her memory are warmly invited to attend.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home, as a tribute to Regina's legacy of love and compassion.
