Obituary

Rachel H. Ilardi, a cherished member of the Newark, OH community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18th, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 13th, 1949, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Rachel was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose generous spirit touched the lives of many.

Rachel dedicated many years to serving as a County Administration Clerk with Suffolk County, NY, where her hard work and commitment were deeply appreciated. Her talents extended beyond her professional life; she was an avid reader and a passionate artist, particularly skilled in watercolors and drawing. Rachel's creativity was matched only by her kindness and commitment to philanthropy. As a long-time member of the Congregational Church, she found joy in charitable work and donated generously to non-profits. For over 30 years, Rachel sponsored two children through the Child Fund International, an endeavor that brought her profound satisfaction and joy.

A devoted family woman, Rachel is survived by her loving son, Jacob Michael Ilardi, and daughter-in-law Annie Rendon-Ilardi; her beloved grandson, Matthew Ilardi; and her brother, Kirk E. Homrighouse, and sister-in-law Laurie B. Homrighouse. She leaves behind treasured nieces and nephews, Aaron David Homrighouse, Amber Lorain Roberts and her husband Darby, and Park Johnston. Her loving spirit will also be remembered by her cousins, Kevin Rhone and his wife Ellenmarie, Tim Egan, and Sara Egan; ex-spouse, Michael Ilardi; sister-in-law, Diane Ilardi; along with a host of dear friends who were like family to her.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Frederick M. Homrighouse and Elaine Homrighouse-Howell; and her brother, Eric Karl Homrighouse.

Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Rachel and her family.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rachel to Hospice of Central Ohio or the Child Fund International, both organizations that were close to her heart.

Rachel's legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
