**Obituary for Penny Slater**

Penny Slater, a beloved resident of Hebron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on Wednesday, April 20th, 1960, in Lancaster, Ohio, Penny was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family woman.

Penny was a proud graduate and Salutatorian of Lakewood High School, Class of 1978; Ohio University, 1985 with a bachelors degree in business administration. She dedicated her professional life to her role as a bookkeeper at Slater Brothers Farm, where her meticulous nature and dedication were greatly valued.
Penny enjoyed all things crafty, was a terrific cook and baker, and sewed, knitted and crocheted.

Penny's life was a testament to her love for her family and her faith. She greatly enjoyed her family heritage and was very committed to the Ours and Gainer family reunions.
She is survived by her loving husband John, whom she married on April 3, 1993; her children, Christian Slater, Samuel (Emily) Slater, and Abigail Slater. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Owen, Reed, and Heidi Slater. Penny is also survived by her siblings, Cheryl (Jim) Maslowski, Randy (Sue) Clay, Phil Clay, and Glenna (Mark) Jones, as well as her brother and sisters-in-law, Mark (Jessica) Slater, Martha (Dave) Cable, and Nancy (Bryan) Dunkel. Many nieces and nephews and cousins. Her church family at Hebron Christian Church will deeply miss her presence and contributions.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Sherman Clay, as well as her in-laws, John and Anne Slater.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Kirkersville, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hebron Christian Church in Penny's memory, honoring her deep faith and commitment to her church community.
