Patricia A. Dishon, 88, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Pat was born on March 11, 1937 in Newark Ohio to the late Lawrence William Brookover and Rosie Louise (Rey) Brookover. She was a 1955 graduate of Newark High School and worked at The Park National Bank for 32 years until she retired to care for her grandsons.
Pat was a kind person who had a host of friends. Many people looked to her as a mother figure and considered her as part of their families. She still regularly had lunch with her retired friends and enjoyed meeting new friends at Licking Memorial Hospital's chair yoga classes. Pat filled the room with her laughter and she will be remembered for the joy she brought into our lives.
Pat married her husband James Lee Dishon on April 4, 1981. They were married for 37 years until he passed away in August 20, 2018. In addition to her husband and parents, Pat was also preceded in death by her sister Dr. Beverly Lafferty, niece Marla Lafferty, step-daughter Michele Smith, brother-in-law Delbert Gene Swaney, sister-in-law Dolores Dee Offenburger and brother-in-law Willard Jake Offenburger.
Pat is survived by her daughter Cheryl L. Toomey and son-in-law Terry A. Toomey; grandsons Mitchell P. Toomey and Nicholas R. Toomey; step-children Jamie (John Simmers) Lutz, Lisa Edwards, and Scott Dishon; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Swaney; nieces and nephews including three very special nephews William Brookover (Karen) Lafferty, Dr. Wesley (Michelle) Lafferty and Latour Lafferty.
Per Pat's wishes there will be no services for her at this time. A private family memorial will take place to combine the ashes of Pat, Jim, and their beloved dog JR. All of their ashes will be scattered at Lake Erie which was where the three of them enjoyed over 20 years together.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Pat's name to Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark OH 43058 or by visiting www.ohioshospice.org or to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Dr SW, Heath OH 43056 or by visiting www.lchspets.org.
