Norman E. McCoy

February 17, 1931 — September 3, 2025

Norman Elijah McCoy, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Inn at Chapel Grove in Heath, Ohio.

Norman was born February 17, 1931, in Gauley Mills, West Virginia, to the late William F. and Selah (Hinkle) McCoy. He was a graduate of Grafton High School.

Norman honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was very proud of our country and was pleased to share his dedication while serving in the Marines. He had a lengthy career and retired from ATT.

Norman is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carolyn (Eddy) McCoy; his children, Crystal (Don) Hamilton, Rick (Carol) McCoy, Kimberly (Dave) Hoskinson, Mark (Dawn) McCoy, and Brian McCoy (Marty McCutcheon). He was very proud of his 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Norman is also survived by his brothers, James (June) McCoy and Richard (Dorothy) McCoy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Frank Jr.; his sisters, Mary Ellen Knight and Louise Carroll; and granddaughter, Sara Elise McCoy.

Norman had a great love of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling. He was a dedicated Buckeye fan and his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. He loved watching baseball and football and followed all the Ohio teams.

Norman was a truly kind, thoughtful, quiet, and dedicated family man. He was a faithful Christian, a good husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He was a good man and will be missed by many.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at the Inn at Chapel Grove in Heath, Ohio.

The family will receive friends and family from 10 am-12 pm on Monday, September 8, at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, in Heath. A Celebration of Life service will follow at the church starting at Noon with Dave Mason officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heath Church of Christ.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio, where military honors will be observed.
