Norma Jean Martin

Norma Jean Martin, 88, of Arcadia Florida, passed away on Thursday December 25th in Tidewell Hospice House, Arcadia, Florida. She was born on June 30,1937, in Newark Ohio to the late Guy Andrew Charlton and Emily (Whaley) Charlton also of Newark Ohio.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Erwin Martin; son Donald Wesley Martin; sister Roberta Ann (Dickover) Charlton.

Her family was the joy of her world. She is survived by her son, David S. Martin and daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Conley) Martin, of Arcadia Florida; daughter-in-law, Laurie (Case) Martin, of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandson, Nicholas Martin; nephews and niece, Eric, Jeff, Nicki (Winchester) Dickover of Newark, Ohio; Fred (brother-in-law) and Mary Alice (Martin) Moore (sister-in-law), Norma Martin (sister-in-law), Della Martin (sister-in-law); cousins, Bill and Jo Charlton of Lakewood, Colorado; and many other nieces and nephews.

Norma was “mom” to many in Arcadia Village after living there over 28 years. Norma was a bundle of joy, known for her boundless love and support for her family and friends. She loved playing cards, crocheting, bunco, exercising at the Senior Center, dinner with the ladies on Friday’s, dancing and traveling.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark with a funeral service being held at 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, 1:00 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Norma will be dearly missed, but her memory will linger in the hearts of all who knew her. The Lord called upon her on his birthday being the most precious day of the year and has gained a beautiful angel; may she rest in eternal peace.
