Neal Herman Brannon, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by the quiet comfort of the life he built. Born on July 8, 1939, Neal grew up attending Martinsville schools, beginning a journey defined by steady faith, a heart for service, and a deep, abiding devotion to his family.
A Life of Service and Dedication--Neal was a man who took great pride in a day's work. He dedicated over 33 years to the Dispatch Printing Company, starting as a mechanic in the transportation garage in 1971. Through his tireless work ethic and natural leadership, he rose to become the Parking, Fleet and Internal Mail Distribution Supervisor. To those he worked with, Neal wasn't just a supervisor; he was the reliable soul who was always the first to step outside his "realm of duties" to lend a hand to anyone in need.
His community felt that same spirit of generosity. Whether he was leading as the President of the Millersport Lions Club from 1992-1993 or chaperoning dances for local teenagers at the F.B.P.O.A, Neal showed up for people. A man of sincere faith, he found strength and purpose as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Joy in Life and Loyalty--When he wasn't working or serving others, Neal knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer, a fan of video games and TV, and cherished the many trips to Oglebay spent with dear friends and the Estate Club. He was also a die hard-hard, rabid Cleveland Browns fan, a man whose loyalty to his team was as unwavering as his loyalty to his family.
Family and Legacy--Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Marie and Arnold Morton Brannon; brother; Kenneth Douglass Brannon; daughter-in-law, Tracy Brannon and his faithful dog, Charlie.
His legacy of love continues through his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Brannon; sons, Michael Arnold Brannon, Manson Edward Collins II (Jenifer), and Jason Scott Collins; grandsons, Scott Neal Collins (Stephanie) and Manson Edward Collins III; granddaughter, Alexia Nicole Patterson. His faithful dogs, Sherman and Holly, remained right by his side until the very end.
A Final Request--In a final, characteristic gesture, Neal asked that those who knew and loved him take a moment to listen to Elvis Presley's "My Way." It is a fitting tribute to a man who lived a life of integrity, did things his own way, and left the world a little better than he found it.
There will be no services at this time for Neal per his request. Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service is honored to care for Neal and his family.
