Nancy Marie Swingley

Nancy Swingley, formerly of Thornville, OH, was called home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2026, in Smyrna, Tennessee surrounded by love. She was born on June 27,1942 to the late Charles and Bessie Marie (Dwiggins) Shaw.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Denny Swingley, sisters: Pat Higgins, Sue Breece, Karon Starner, and brother David Shaw. Nancy is survived by daughters: April and Stan Maletz of Virginia, Patsy and Jeff Nelson of Tennessee, bonus daughter Robin and Mark Purdy of Mt. Vernon, OH. Other son: Jason Foltz of Thornville, OH. Grandchildren: Samantha Maletz of Colorado, Victoria Trupiano and Kyle Nelson of Tennessee, Anastazy Maletz of Virginia, and David Ulsh of Pennsylvania. Plus 7 great grandchildren. Sisters: Peggy Mills of Thornville, OH, Leona Fornataro of Newark, brother Rich Shaw of Stuttgart, Germany, many nieces, nephews, and her friends and angels at The Pavillion Memory Care Unit.

Nancy had a strong love of the Lord, her family, serving others, and a passion for bowling and coaching. She was a member of the Newark Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Newark Bowling Association, and the Newark Bowling Hall of Fame. Nancy was an avid bowler and coach. She coached for over 40 years at Village Lanes in Thornville.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00 p.m. at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Bowling shirts are welcome. The funeral service will be held there on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with inurnment immediately following for family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes for donations will be available at the funeral home.
