Nancy Louise Kissell, cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on Thursday, December 31st, 1953, in Newark, Ohio, Nancy spent her life in the heart of a community she cherished deeply.
Nancy was a dedicated certified childcare teacher at Milestone Learning Center in Etna, OH, where she tirelessly nurtured young minds with love and compassion for 10 years. Her career in childcare spanned since 2008, during which she profoundly impacted the lives of countless children and their families. Nancy was also an accounting clerk at the Newark Advocate for 12 years.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Thornville, OH, where she served as a dedicated Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School worker. Nancy and her husband, Alan, were also fixtures at church events as greeters for many years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great joy and purpose in serving her church community.
Nancy's passions included flower gardening, watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel, and collecting snowmen. She was an avid cook and baker, delighting her family with her culinary creations, and was a devoted online shopper and recipe collector. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Alan E. Kissell, whom she married on September 25, 1982. She leaves behind her devoted children: Alicia L. (Ryan) Miller; Earl L. (Maggie) Kissell; and Anton A. (Ashley) Kissell. Nancy was a proud grandmother to Lucas, Aiden, Kourtney, Colin, Jack, and Lauren, who will all carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
Nancy was preceded in death by her dear parents, Edwin Binckley and Effie "Grace" (Rizor) Binckley, and her beloved sister, Sandra Lee Binckley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 10th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville, OH. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same location. Arrangements are provided by Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service - Thornville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Ohio, with envelopes available at the church.
Nancy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
