Mitzi Rose Gibson

Mitzi Rose Gibson, age 87, of Newark, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mitzi was born January 26, 1938 in Newark, Ohio to the late Robert R. and Bernice Marie (Hottinger) Baker.

Over the years, Mitzi was a phone operator at Newark Telephone and had also cleaned at Schuler Engineering. An avid OSU football fan, Mitzi enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two children, Gary L. (Pamela) Kelley and Paul R. Kelley (Valerie Vannoy), all of Newark; grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Tuttle, Nicholas (Darianne) Kelley, Matthew (Shauna) Kelley, and Jared (RaeAnn) Kelley; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Madison Gibson; and by two brothers, Richard Baker and infant Ronald Baker.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, March 17, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. A private graveside inurnment service will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
