Minerva Fontell McArtor, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 95. Born and raised in Newark, Ohio, she lived in the same home in Hanover for 61 years. She spent her entire life in the community she loved, surrounded by family and friends.
A devoted homemaker, Minerva dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home. Her greatest joy was camping and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was dedicated to the First Church of Christ Scientist in Newark and Lancaster, where she was a reader for over 30 years.
Minerva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, E. Wayne McArtor, her parents, Pearl and Grace Rodgers, her daughter Linda McArtor, son Noble McArtor, brother Gene Rodgers, sister Grace Karen "Gracie" Grover, and grandson Jeremy Lanham.
She is survived by her loving children, Roger W. (Hallie) McArtor, Sharon S. (Henry) Lanham, and Rita J. (Don) Yost. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Vickie (Jeff) Maynard, Scott (Amy) Lanham, Henry Wayne (Julie) Lanham, Donna (Jeremy) Landis, Robert Heils, William (Jhenn) Heils, and Derrick McArtor, as well as her great-grandchildren: Darcy Roberts, Aaron Lanham, David Lanham, Braden Lanham, Mason Lanham, Henry James Lanham, Evan Lanham, Ethan Landis, Ellie Landis, Levi Strohl McArtor, and Lincoln McArtor. Minerva also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service celebrating Minerva's life will be held at Smith Chapel Cemetery, Newark, Ohio, on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 am., with Iva Mae Hawley officiating. Her family and friends are invited to honor her memory and share in the stories and love that defined her life.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Minerva to Hospice of Central Ohio.
