Michael R. Davis

Calling hours and a vigil service celebrating the life of Michael R. Davis, age 76, of Pataskala, will be held Thursday, September 24, at Hoskinson Funeral Home Kirkersville, 285 East Main Street, Kirkersville.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., with Deacon Terry Martin officiating the vigil service. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake, with a funeral luncheon to follow. A private interment will take place with the family.

Michael was born December 24, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Richard and Virginia Davis. He passed away on September 3, 2026, at Mount Carmel East Hospital following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Love Davis; children, Mindy Justis and Gary Love (Amy); grandchildren, Jessica Love and Mark Love; brother, Phillip Davis; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Davis; father, Richard Davis; stepmother, Dorothy Davis; and sisters, Ann Shover and Teresa Bond.

A graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Journalism, Michael built a long and accomplished career in fundraising and philanthropic counseling, including time with WMNI, The National Kidney Foundation and Ward, Dreshman and Reinhardt. He later established Evans

Davis Consulting, which he managed for more than 25 years, counseling nonprofit and religious institutions across the country.

Michael’s work with faith-based institutions reflected his deep Catholic faith and his belief that God had guided his path throughout his life. He took tremendous pride in his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and considered his family, friends and career among his greatest blessings.

Outside of family, faith and fundraising, Michael’s other great loves included the St. Louis Cardinals, the Ohio State Buckeyes and a nice 12-year-old Scotch – preferably shared with good company.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Mission or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
