Michael William Dean, a beloved brother, friend, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3rd, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 23rd, 1950, in Newark, Ohio, Michael spent his entire life in the city he loved and called home.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Michael earned his bachelor's degree before embarking on a nearly 20-year career as an Account Examiner with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation in Columbus, Ohio. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was unparalleled, and he took great pride in his role, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those he served.
Michael was also a proud veteran, having served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that he carried throughout his life.
Outside of his professional life, Michael had a passion for cinema. He loved going to the movies, listening to soundtracks, and watching classic films. His appreciation for the arts was evident to all who knew him, and he often shared his enthusiasm with friends and family.
Michael is survived by his brother, Lawrence E. Dean, and many cherished friends who will miss his kindness, wit, and unwavering loyalty. He was preceded in death by his father, David Dean, and his mother, Gertrude Louise Dean.
A graveside service celebrating Michael's life will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Steven Hughes officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather and remember the wonderful life Michael led and the impact he had on all who knew him.
