Service arrangements are pending for Martin Lee Gough, age 89, of Thornville, who passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his home.

Martin was born December 7, 1936 in Newark, Ohio to the late William R. “Bud” and Jennie (Gualtieri) Gough.

A dedicated truck driver, Martin was the owner of his own successful trucking company for an impressive 40 years. His passion for the open road and hard work was admired by all who knew him. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Martin was deeply committed to his faith. He was a dedicated member of the Christian Life Center, a church with origins rooted in his family, having been established by his father. Martin spent his life preaching the Lord’s Word with unwavering devotion, often traveling across the country to spread his message and visit churches.

In addition to his professional and religious pursuits, Martin was an avid storyteller, capturing the essence of his life experiences in numerous short story journals. These writings provide a treasured insight into his life and legacy. Additionally, he was a licensed private pilot, which allowed him the joy of exploring the skies.

He is survived by his children, Mark Gough, Mike Gough, Tom Gough, Beverly Phillips, and Martin L. (Christine) Gough, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Candace Gough; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathleen Gough; a nephew, John Gough; and many church family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Jean Gough, Rose Gough, and Terry Lee Ballanger Gough; a son, Matt Gough; daughter, Joni Hall; daughters-in-law, Jeannie Gough and Anna Gough; son-in-law, Ed Phillips; and a brother, Tom Gough.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Life Center.
