Marion Louise Dearlove

A Celebration of Life Service for Marion Louise Dearlove, 95, of Thornville, will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at her home, 11769 McMurray Way, Thornville. A private burial will be held at a later date for Marion, and her husband, William at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.

Marion was born on October 23, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to the late Carl George and Clover Margaret Heidbreder. In 1930, the family moved to Tenafly, NJ where they resided until 1943 and then moved back to Webster Groves, MO. She graduated from Webster High School in 1947 and then went to Grinnel College in Iowa for one year. In 1948, she transferred to Washington University in St. Louis, MO for two years.

Marion was an artist and enjoyed china painting, oil painting and other art forms. She spent her summers enjoying fishing, gardening and loved flowers and traveling. She was a member of the Port Charlotte Porcelain Artists for many years and was treasurer for 10 years. She was a member of the Thornville Senior Extension Club and the Thornville Senior Group of Perry County.

She was married to Robert “Bob” Longstreet in 1950 and lived in High Hill, MO. They had a son, John Robert Longstreet. Bob died in an auto/train accident in 1953 and Marion and her son, John, moved to Kirkwood, MO. In 1956, she married William “Bill” Edward Dearlove and moved to Morton, IL. Bill adopted John and they changed his name to John Longstreet Dearlove. In 1958, they moved to Washington, IL and had two more sons, Steven Lee and Thomas James, and they lived in Washington, IL. They had a cabin on Lake Vermilion in Tower, MN, where they spent their summers, and a home in Port Charlotte, FL, where they spent their winters. In 2009, they moved to Thornville, Ohio where they built a home on Buckeye Lake which placed them close to their son, Steven and his wife Billie, who live in Thornville. In 2012, Bill passed away and Marion continued living in their home on the lake with her dog and best friend, Misty.

She is survived by three sons, John L. Dearlove of Chicago, IL, Steven Lee (Billie) Dearlove of Thornville, and Thomas James (Karen) Dearlove in Ozark National Forest, MO; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Conrad of Ozark, MO, and Janet (Carl) Owczarzak of Lenexa, KS; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William E. Dearlove, who passed away on September 19, 2012; and her brother, Carl Heidbreder, Jr., who died in January 2012.

In true Marion fashion, she was able to plan out her final days resting comfortably and peacefully in her home on Buckeye Lake, surrounded with family and love!
