Lanty Jearl Facemire

Lanty "Jearl" Facemire, age 79, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at his home. He was born November 10, 1945 in Sutton, West Virginia to the late Lanty Lee and Dellie Elizabeth (Wyatt) Facemire.

Jearl faithfully served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a carpenter with the Brotherhood of Union Carpenters for many years.

Jearl loved hunting and fishing, and tinkering on his many projects. He also enjoyed watching Westerns, especially John Wayne. His family meant the world to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He dearly loved his faithful companions, his dogs, Jack and Buddy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delores A. (Lane) Facemire, whom he married May 15, 1969; a son, Matthew Jearl (Jennifer) Facemire of Newark; a daughter, Sandra Facemire (Jason Biggs) of Lancaster; grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Facemire and Elizabeth (Ellie) Facemire; siblings, Jerry (Lora) Facemire, Patsy (Jim) Mitchell, Edith Holliday, and Ruie Hart; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ray Facemire, Robert Facemire, Russell Facemire, Nelma Collins, Reda Facemire, Sylvia Barnett, and two infant brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery in Sutton, Braxton County, West Virginia.
