Kristina Rose "Krissy" Fortney, beloved significant other, mother, daughter, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24th, 2025, in Newark, Ohio. Born on March 31st, 1983, in Newark, Krissy graced the world with her vibrant spirit for 42 years.
Krissy was a dedicated housekeeper at Arlington Care Center in Newark, where her work ethic and kindhearted nature touched the lives of many. Before her career at Arlington, she pursued her passion for culinary arts as the former owner/operator of Papa Theos Restaurant. Krissy was also a spirited competitor, showcasing her vivacious energy on the speed team at the Rollaway Skating Rink in Newark.
Krissy was a lover of life's simple pleasures and adventures alike. She cherished family gatherings, took immense joy in cooking, and embarked on memorable cruises. Her vibrant personality shone through her love for parasailing, go-karting, and the thrill of NASCAR and dirt track racing. She took pride in maintaining her home and landscaping, nurturing not only her surroundings but the hearts of those who knew her. Whether she was watching cooking shows or Storage Wars, her enthusiasm was contagious. Krissy's affinity for chap stick and Bath and Body Works was well-known among friends and family.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her significant other, Shawn Alan Theos; her daughter, Allison "Allie" (Masio) Matthews; son, Jamison Fortney; her mother, Mary Fortney; and her deeply cherished dog, Snoopy. Krissy also leaves behind her paternal grandmother, Carol Fortney; sisters Tiffany (Jason) Knott, Cassie (Cody) Stradley, and Allison (Josh Cook) Fortney; her uncle, Bill Fortney; and a host of adoring nieces and nephews: Kali and Krue Knott, Lincoln and Miles Stradley, Logan, Jesse, and Emily Cook. She was treasured by her best friends Adrienne Mehta, Wanda and Steve Krupp, Tanner and Grant Krupp, Marcy Overbey, Jill Huff and family, Tracy and Trevin Pierce, Jane and Larry Fruth, Tyler and Laura Jones, Carter Mann, and Brad Yingling, along with many other family members and friends.
Krissy was welcomed into eternal rest by her father, James W. Fortney, Jr.; paternal grandfather, James William Fortney, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Walter Armstrong and Elizabeth Huston; and her dear aunt, Ruthie Fortney Williams.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Krissy's legacy will be held on Saturday, December 27th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at GMP Hall, 350 Hudson Avenue, Newark, OH. Friends and family are invited to come together in a tribute to her remarkable life and everlasting impact.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in memory of Krissy to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, Hospice of Central Ohio, or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
