It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Joseph Russell Rodgers, 57, of Hebron, Ohio, who died in an automobile accident on May 21, 2026, while returning home from work. He was born on September 14, 1968, in Newark, Ohio, Joe, Who affectionately known as "Joey" to his childhood friends, was the cherished son of Susan and Kris Knight of Hebron, and Tom and Twila Rodgers of Thornville.
A 1986 graduate of Lakewood High School, Joe proudly played int he Lakewood band all four years. He spent many years working in the mailroom at the Newark Advocate, followed by a dedicated 14-year career as an employee and delivery driver for UPS in Newark. Most recently, he was employed at Universal Veneer in Newark. Joe was a 26 year member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge F & AM #116.
Joe was a man of many passions. He was highly proficient organist who brought immense joy to his mother by playing her favorite songs. An avid sports fan, he passionately cheered on the OSU Buckeyes and loves baseball and softball, playing from Little League through men's leagues for many years.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his brothers, Kevin (Bobbi) Rodgers of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Shawn (Miranda) Rodgers of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. He leaves behind his children, Jescika (Jake) Lahmon of Granville, Joseph T. Conley and Lexie Conley, both of Coshocton, Ohio. He was the proud grandfather of Jakob and Riley Lahmon, Ansley, Cohen and Kaizen Conley. He is also survived by his uncles, Bob (Dar) Schlereth and Dan Barrett of Florida, John (Janet) Barrett of Columbus, and Don (Maurita) Barrett of Indiana, alongside many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russ & Stella Barrett and paternal grandparents, Joseph & Hilda Rodgers.
To honor his memory, a private remembrance ceremony will be held later this year for close family to celebrate his memorable life.
