December 17, 1967 — September 12, 2025

Mt. Perry

Joseph Lee McClain, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12th, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on Sunday, December 17th, 1967, in Newark, Ohio, Joseph brought joy and laughter to countless lives throughout his remarkable journey.

Joseph was a man of many talents and passions, known especially for his expertise as an auto mechanic and his skill as an excavator. His ability to fix anything was unmatched, and his fascination with cars was evident to all who knew him.

An avid outdoorsman, Joseph found solace in nature and enjoyed spending his time fishing and riding 4-wheelers with his beloved grandchildren. Despite his adventurous spirit, he was very much a homebody, cherishing the moments spent surrounded by his family and friends.

Joseph’s legacy lives on in his children: Karrie (James) Stroup, Joe (Katelynn) McClain, Levi (Michele Everetts) Bowser, Triston McClain, and Joely (Dean) McClain-Richardson. His grandchildren, Cheyanne McClain, Rileigh McClain, Raeanne McClain, Briarlynn Marcano, and Kaylee Arbaugh, will forever remember the love and joy he shared with them. Joseph is also survived by his sisters, Ginger (Raymond) Workman and Gretchen (Bryan Cramlet) Harris, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Devon, Michael, Brooke, Judd, Shayla, and Cobi. His "second parents," Connie and Tom Bowser, and numerous cousins and friends, mourn the loss of such a cherished individual.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph D. McClain and Judy Miller. Despite their loss, he found strength and guidance in the family he built and the memories he created.

Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Joseph and his family during this difficult time. Joseph's absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember him.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the love he shared and the memories they hold dear.
