Jonathan Leigh Ridenour of Thornville, Ohio peacefully entered the arms of his heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his residence in the comfort of his favorite chair. He was born on October 3, 1950, and had just celebrated his 75 th birthday with his family.
Jon was the son of the late Paul F. Ridenour and Marjorie (Watkins) Ridenour. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1968 during which time he played baseball and trombone with the Sheridan Marching Generals. He attended OSU Newark for three years as a music major. Three of his great loves in life were music, bands, and Ohio State football. Game day at the Ridenour household was filled with anticipation and excitement. It would not be unusual at halftime for Jon to march with his pretend trombone in the living room.
Jon loved life and wanted everyone to enjoy it with him. He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his beloved wife, Patti, who he married on Christmas Eve in 1975. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Kendall and Molly and his three grandsons, Caleb, Kyen and Colin, who filled his days with purpose, laughter, and love and made his life complete.
He was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served on council, was involved with the Youth Ministry and sang with the Men of Grace. Jon was a self-employed builder for 50 years serving mainly the Thornville, Glenford, and Somerset areas. He always told his customers at the end of a job that the entertainment was free. He loved to make people laugh.
Jon is survived by his wife Patti (Leckrone) Ridenour, daughters, Kendall (Carl) Clovis, Molly (Doug) White, a sister, Suzanne Barnhart, a sister-in-law, Mary Ridenour, three grandchildren, Caleb and Colin White and Kyen Clovis, his first in-laws, Don and Janie Noyes, brother-in-law, Reed (Calla) Noyes, sister-in-law, Susan Noyes, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Sue “Becky” Noyes, brother, David Ridenour and an infant brother, Joel Ridenour, brother-in-law, Jeff Noyes, and many aunts and uncles whom he dearly loved.
