Jona Hite

Jona W. Hite, Jr., of Pleasantville, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Fairfield County, the son of the late Jona W. and Felicia I. (Holt) Hite Sr. He was a graduate of Walnut Township H.S., class of 1939, and was a life long farmer. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar and entertaining others. He volunteered at Olivedale and for other senior citizen groups.He is survived by his loving family: daughters Nancy Hite of Thornville, Georgia (Archie) Robinson of Pleasantville, Janet Margo (Martin) Crow of Thurston, Rita (Rick) Fields of Manchester, KY., 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a brother Arthur (Norma Jean) Hite and a sister Joan (Charles) George both of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Toots Hite in 1983, a granddaughter Alicia Turner, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.The family will receive friends on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St. in Thornville. Private Graveside Services will follow on Tuesday in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Lancaster.The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association in his honor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
