John William Weaver, age 77, of Thornville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 5, 2025 at Genesis Perry County Medical Center. He was born April 18, 1948 in Newark, Ohio to the late William Lee and Della Mae (Dillon) Weaver.
John dedicated 20 years of his career to Newark Novelty, where he worked in sales and formed many lifelong friendships. Previously, he contributed his skills to Schuller Engineering. His commitment extended beyond work as an active member of the Buckeye Lake Moose and a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 51 in Thornville, where he found camaraderie and built lasting bonds.
Among John's passions were fishing, watching sports, and working with his hands. He took great pride in building his own home and relished weekends cheering for his favorite teams—the Cleveland Browns, the Guardians, and the OSU Buckeyes. Winters were special for John and his wife, Barbara, as they spent them by the serene shores of Lake Okeechobee, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara (Panak) Weaver, whom he married December 29, 1978; daughter, Kristi Swick of Buckeye Lake; step-daughter, Kimberly (David) Bussey of Galloway; grandchildren, Kayla Andrews and Garrett LaCroix; and six great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Ludwig of Newark; three nieces and one nephew.
At his request, no visitation or funeral will be observed.
Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for John and his family.
