Jodie Marie Duval

March 9, 1974 — March 3, 2026

Newark

Jodie Marie Duval, a woman of boundless kindness and a pillar of care for her friends and family, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 51, Tuesday March 3, 2026. Born on March 9, 1974, Jodie spent her life proving that one person’s love could truly make the world a softer place.

Jodie’s calling was always clear: she lived to help others. She dedicated the majority of her professional life to the patients at Children’s Hospital and later continued her nursing career at Clinix.

Though she resided in Newark, Jodie was raised in Glenford, Ohio, where she grew up and later graduated from Sheridan High School. She was the beloved daughter of Diane E. Barzan (Duval) and Terry Vice, but was raised with profound love and guidance by her step-father, Ronald D. Duval. To those who knew her best, Jodie was the steady hand and the soft place to land. As a mother, she wasn’t just a parent; she was a best friend and a constant confidante who loved without condition. She had a rare, amazing gift: the ability to look at anyone and make them feel entirely worthy. She enjoyed nature, the beach and anything spontaneous. Mostly, she loved her family and friends and the many adventures she had with them.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Hannah Emch. Jodie is survived by her children, Katelyn (Keaton Coffman) Emch and Nathan (Aniyah Beck) Emch; Grandson Avian Adicus Ray Emch; Partner, Matt Hunter; Siblings, Dusty Duval, Shannon Duval, Stacy Tepfenhart and Mike Vise and Last but not least, her cherished cat, who was a constant source of joy in her life; Salem.

A celebration of life will be held at Dillon Lake on a later date.
