Joan G. Griffith, age 77, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026 with her family around her. Joan was born January 8, 1949 in Lewisburg, Ohio to the late John Lewis and Merlie (Thompson) Davis.

Joan was employed in the office of Merry Maids for several years and she especially enjoyed her years working at Indian Mound Mall. She loved music and was known to sing at any time. Some of her best days were spent appreciating the sunny outdoors with her family. She enjoyed walking and sewing. Her handmade Afghan blankets are a treasure to anyone who received one. She liked to travel, especially to Gatlinburg with her husband Don, and her most recent joy was her new great grandson, Rhys.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Donald E. Griffith; son, Timothy (Becky) Skidmore of Coshocton; daughter, Tammy (Randy) Wilson of Newark; grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Ashley (Morgan) Powell, and Ian Wilson; great grandchild, Rhys Powell; step-daughters, Dawn (Jeremy) Bevard of Heath and Wendy Carpenter of Newark; four step-grandchildren; a brother, John Lewis (Brenda) Davis of Centerburg; and many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers who died at birth; an infant sister, Elma Lois Davis; and her two sisters, and best friends, Shelva (Ronald) Hitchcock and Darlene (Doug) Campbell.

Joan was loved by all who knew her and will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, at The Newark Church of the Nazarene, 200 South Williams Street in Newark.
