James Allen Roberts

A graveside service celebrating the life of James Allen “Jim” Roberts, age 59, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Jim was born January 21, 1966 in Newark, Ohio. He passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at his home following an extended illness.

A proud graduate of the ES Weiant Starlight School in Newark, Jim spent several years employed with LICCO. He also enjoyed spending time at the Donna Jean Center where he learned new skills. Jim had a unique love for cars and Jeeps, amassing an impressive collection of Hot Wheels cars that brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. He had a keen interest for cleaning and also enjoyed preparing meals. Known for his big sense of humor, Jim had an exceptional ability to tease lovingly and make everyone around him laugh.

Jim will be greatly missed by his father, Clement O. Roberts of Newark; sisters, Michele Roberts and Dawn (Jeff) Stuck; grandmother, Mary Roberts; nieces and nephews; and his uncles and aunts, Tom Roberts, Mike (Belinda) Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Peggy Kerr and Connie (Carl) Swartz.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Lynne (Brown) Roberts.
