James Lee Hazlerigg, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27th, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on Monday, August 24th, 1931, in Westland, Michigan, James was a cherished resident of Newark, Ohio, where he spent many years surrounded by family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcella Hazlerigg, with whom he shared many beautiful years. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Cindy L. Nichols; sons, Robert F. Gordon and Lewis Lee (Heidi) Gordon; grandchildren, Kellie (Jeffrey) Lee, Michael Parlet, and Shannon Ryan; and his great-grandson, Hayden Lee. James also leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss his warmth and humor.

A dedicated and hardworking man, James spent many years as a sweeper salesman for Kirby Vacuum. His career was marked by his unwavering dedication and the countless relationships he built along the way.

James had a zest for life that was evident in his passions. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, a pastime he enjoyed with family and friends. He found joy in betting on the horses at the race track and was known for his love of Westerns. James also appreciated the finer things in life, particularly luxury cars and fine suits, which reflected his unique and vibrant personality.
