James Edward Eppley

Englewood, FL

James E. Eppley (Jim), 95 of Englewood, Florida, and formally of Hebron, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice House, in Venice, Florida. Jim was born May 9, 1930 in Clark, Ohio to the late Christian Arthur and Olga (Hall) Eppley. 

Jim attended Thornville High School in Thornville, Ohio. He served three years in the U.S. Army (1951 - 1954) and was a proud 60 year plus member of Hebron Post 285 American Legion, and a Life Patron member of the NRA. Jim worked at Structurelite Plastics in Hebron, Ohio for 43 years retiring in 1997 as an Industrial Maintenance Technician and Boiler Operator. Jim enjoyed traveling, antiquing, fishing, Drag Racing, NASCAR, and attending to his pineapples and raising Texas Rose flowers. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Carole (Puffer) Eppley, who he married on August 2, 1952 (nearly 77 total yrs. together); sons, James C. Eppley (Jim) of Venice Florida and Bill J. Eppley (Leslie) of Newark; granddaughters, Meagan Proctor and Morgan Ross; grandson, Steve (Shannon) Burke; four great grandchildren; brother, Jack Eppley; and sister, Gwen Litzinger. Jim is also survived by a very special cousin, Hilton Eppley Jr. (Pedro) and his children, Hilton and Dakota; neighbors, Frank and Barbara Caminito; and longtime great friend, Leonard Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and a grandson.

Carole and Jimmy would like to offer a sincere Thank You to all of the great staff at Tidewell Hospice and Hospice House Venice for everything they did to care for Jim over the past few months. You folks are all Angels from God. 

A small service for family and friends will be held on September 9, 2025 in Kirkersville, Ohio. No Florida services are planned.
