Herbert Leroy "Skip" Allen

Herbert Leroy “Skip” Allen, age 62, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Skip was born May 26, 1963 in Newark, Ohio to the late Herbert L. Allen, Sr. and the late Cora Lee (Balwick) Allen Thompson.

Skip enjoyed shooting pool and playing card and dice games. He loved reality TV, especially Live PD and other police shows. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the OSU Buckeyes.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Frances (Westenbarger) Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Madisen Allen and Paul Ety; son, Bradley Allen; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Axel, and Asher Ety; sister, Sharon (Paul) Johnson; life partner, Kim Diemoz; nieces, Jessica, Zack, Terry, and Chasity; great-nieces and nephews, Autumn, Mackenzie, Secora, Seth, Luke, and Carson; great-great-nephew, Atreus; cousins, Mike, Trish, Sam, Marilyn, and Tammy; caregivers, Chandra and Taylor Jordan; and his dog, Charcoal, who he loved dearly and who was his faithful companion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Larason; and a brother, Leroy Allen.
