Guy Nelson Gray

Guy Nelson Gray, 69, of London, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2025.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on December 14, 1955, Guy spent his early years in California before
returning to Ohio. He attended West High School and became a father of two at a young age.
He got his start at Burger Chef and went on to manage the East Main Street location, where he
met and fell in love with Cheri Lynn. The two married on June 2, 1979, and raised their family
together, welcoming three more children.

Guy had a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. He worked for several years at Glick
Furniture Company, working his way up to warehouse supervisor. He learned more of the
furniture business from his father-in-law, Gene, and in the 1990s, he was the proud
owner/operator of Lake Furniture. For the past 18 years, he has worked alongside his wife, son
Greg, and daughter Johanna at the Gallery of London auction house, along with several
dedicated staff and close family friends, Rex and Becky Garrett. His business sense, practical
skills, and willingness to take on just about any challenge were key to everything he built.

He was known for being resourceful, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand. Guy wasn’t
one to show affection easily, but he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He
appreciated a good laugh, a solid story, and a job well done. He especially loved camping,
spending countless weekends at Deer Creek State Park cooking outdoors, riding around on his
golf cart, and relaxing with family.

Guy was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Branson (Gray), his parents Jack and
Mary Hastings, biological parents David Eugene Gray and Myrtle Murphy (Dysart), and brothers
Robert Gray, Martin Eldridge, and Billy Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Cheri Gray (Godwin); his children David (Jennifer)
Gray, Gregory (Joann) Gray, Katie (Charles) Bates, and Johanna (Timothy) Patrick; brother,
David Gray, sisters Linda Quinn and Tabitha Murphy; grandchildren Randy, Branden, Taryn,
Michael G., Samantha, Paige, Morgan, Faith, Michael B., Roberta, Riley, Caitlyn, Grayson, Myles,
Cynthia, Zowi, and Timothy, numerous great-grandchildren, and many other extended family
members and friends. His family will go on to love and care for his new furry friend, Winnie.

Guy will be remembered for his straightforward nature, problem-solving mindset, and steadfast
presence in the lives of those who knew him.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at
Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E. Main Street, Kirkersville, Ohio. A Celebration of Life dinner will
be held later in the day from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Deer Creek Township Hall, 75 Middle
Street, London, Ohio.
