Gregory “Mitch” Stockdale, age 58 of Newark passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 5, 1967, in Newark, Ohio to the late Phillip L. and Kathryn (Stork) Stockdale.

He was a 1986 graduate of Newark Catholic High School and then attended COTC and earned his degree in addiction counseling which was his second calling. Following high school, Mitch spent many years working as a golf professional in various states throughout the country. He was most at home at the Granville Golf Course where he grew up spending countless hours with his father.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barb (Amos Dennis) Stockdale; children, Jennifer (Dereck Wells) Stockdale, Brian (Valerie) Stockdale, Ashley Stockdale, Tyler Stockdale, Emily Stockdale; stepchildren, Shane (Noel) Dennis, Beth Dennis; grandchildren, Carter Wells, Bennett Stockdale, Caleb Stockdale, Naomi Stockdale, Lalya Dennis, Bella Dennis, James Dennis, and Maria Dennis; siblings, David (Lynn) Stockdale; nephew, Nathan (Janaey) Stockdale.

Per Mitch’s wishes a memorial service will be held at a later date.
