Gregory Michael Kean

Gregory Michael Kean, age 54, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Greg was born October 1, 1970 in Newark, Ohio.

A man of varied interests, Greg was an avid boater, and took immense joy in captaining the family boat, "The Cortney Anne,” over the waves of Buckeye Lake. He had a passion for football, The Ohio State Buckeyes and shared in the excitement of each game with his family and friends. He enjoyed collecting things, particularly signs, and it was evident to all who knew him, as was his enjoyment of "American Pickers," which inspired memorable visits with Tammy to the show's stores in Iowa and Tennessee. Greg also held a curious intrigue for the mysteries of aliens and Area 51. Greg had a deep well of faith and knew when he left this earth he would arrive at his final destination.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Louise (Hall) Kean, whom he married August 13, 1994; children, Crystal Kaye Yvonne (Kody) Stuck of Heath and Chase Michael Gregory Kean (Jessie Hairston) of Utica; bonus daughter, Brianna Nicole Grannon of Heath; grandchildren, who fondly called him “Pappy”, Stevie Anne Gracelynn Stuck, Zoen Lou Elizabeth Stuck, Damian Lee Michael Stuck, Oliver Troy Bailey, and Charlotte Mae Louise Grannon; siblings, Tracey Sue (Jamie) Bishop of Newark, Wayne Eugene (Amanda) Kean II of North Olmsted, Tiffany Noel (Scott) Cook of Angelton, Texas, Kelli Kaye (Thad) Glaub of Newark, and Justin Eugene (Stephanie) Kean of Paris, Illinois; sister-in-law, Tawnya Lou Massey of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful and loving daughter, Cortney Anne Louise Kean, on June 6, 2015; by his mother, Sandra Kaye McWilliams; and his grandparents, William Leroy and Mary Josephine McWilliams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that to honor Greg please plant a tree in his memory.

The family will observe a celebration of Greg’s life at a later date.
