Obituary

Glen W. "Junior" Modesitt, Jr., a cherished resident of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 14, 1955, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Junior led a life full of warmth, dedication, and enthusiasm for his passions.

Junior was a devoted brother to his surviving siblings, Dave Modesitt, Little Sandy, and Jimmy Cottrell, and leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Modesitt, mother, Floda Frances Modesitt, sisters Sandy Richards and Sharon Wiley, and his beloved stepmother, Wilda Jean Modesitt.

A dedicated laborer, Junior found pride and fulfillment in his work at Goodwill Industries in Newark, Ohio. His colleagues and friends at Goodwill remember him as a steadfast and hardworking individual, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Junior was proud to have an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, a testament to his commitment and service.

His passions included dirt track racing and NASCAR, where he could be found cheering enthusiastically from the stands. A true sports enthusiast, Junior was a dedicated Ohio State Buckeye fan and could often be seen donning the scarlet and gray. His loyalty also extended to the Cleveland Browns, with whom he shared many Saturdays and Sundays rooting for his team.

Junior's love of western shows brought him joy and comfort, reflecting his admiration for the values and stories they portrayed. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, always making room at his table and in his heart for those he loved.
