George L. James

September 27, 1943 — July 31, 2025

Hebron

A funeral service celebrating the life of George Lawrence James, age 81, of Hebron, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, at the Hebron Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Gary Babcock officiating.

Friends may call from 1-4 PM prior to the service at the funeral home, 108 N. 7th St. in Hebron.

George was born September 27, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Lawrence W. and Goldie (Rohn) James. He passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Altercare Thornville.

George was employed with Bank One for many years and later retired from Alliance Data. A motorcycle enthusiast, George loved his Harley Davidson and was a proud member of the Fossils Motorcycle Club. He participated with them each year in the Christmas toy drive, always wearing his bright red leather pants on the ride.

George enjoyed calling Bingo and was a DJ for a number of years. He also enjoyed camping and bowling. He was a skilled handyman who took pride in remodeling houses and assisting family members with their home improvement and fix-it projects. His little red Corvette, distinguished by its white convertible top, was a source of immense pride and joy.

During the holidays, George's creative spirit shone brightly, particularly during Halloween and Christmas. Over the years, his meticulous and imaginative decorations earned him accolades, winning the best house award three consecutive years in a row at Halloween in Circleville, where he and his wife lived for many years. Despite these personal achievements, nothing brought George more joy than the accomplishments of his grandchildren, of which he often proudly spoke.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara J. (Carroll) James, whom he married September 22, 1968; son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. and Donna James of Heath; grandchildren, Aiden James and Avah James; brother, Michael James; sister-in-law, Judy Carrol; his cousin who was a dear friend, Rick James; and many other close friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio or Goodwill.
