A graveside service honoring the life of Genevieve Marie Liller, age 91, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at Wilson Cemetery.
Genevieve was born July 22, 1935 in McCoole, Maryland to the late Ervin Stotler and the late Hilda Bernease (Higgins) Walker. She passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark.
Genevieve dedicated several years as a talented cook at Zerger Hall in Newark. A devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church, Genevieve epitomized the spirit of community through her active participation in the Silver Club and the Red Hat Society, where she served as a former president of both. She also held the esteemed position of Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose #964, a testament to her leadership and commitment to fostering camaraderie and goodwill.
Genevieve enjoyed crocheting. She found joy in playing Solitaire on her tablet, solving intricate jigsaw puzzles, and engaging in challenging word searches. Her love for ballroom dancing was only rivaled by her unwavering support of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, of whom she was an avid fan.
She is survived by her loving family including two daughters, Lynn Cunningham and Robin C. (Ronnie) Alestock; six grandchildren, Noah Pape, Lucas (Catherine) Pape, Jonah (Lindsay) Cunningham, Christopher Alestock (Angie Frost), Hanna Dolby, and Spencer (Skylar) Alestock; five great-grandchildren, Layton Sheppard, Evelyn Alestock, Leigha Dolby, Wren Alestock, and Sebastian Pape; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Liller, who died October 5, 1982; a son, Bruce Allen Liller; and a grandson, Nathan Keith Pape; along with three brothers, Robert L. Walker, Dale S. Walker, and Arvin Walker.
Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Genevieve and her family.
