Etna

Freddie Latella, 69, of Etna, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born on September 28, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Fred and Ruth (Robbins) Latella.

A dedicated public servant, Freddie spent his career serving as a Bailiff for Judges David Stansbury and David Branstool of Licking County. His commitment to his community extended beyond the courtroom; he was deeply involved in local politics as a member of the Democratic Party, served on the Licking County Board of Education, and held the position of president of the C-TEC School Board for several years. He was also a zoning inspector for Etna Township and a past chief deputy recorder for Licking County. As a member of the Ohio Board of Bailiffs, Freddie was renowned as a man with a million memories, who truly didn’t know a stranger. Freddie was a man who truly knew everyone and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Freddie’s love for his community was matched only by his passion for sports. He was an avid supporter of the OSU, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed golfing.

Freddie leaves behind his devoted wife, Cynthia Holman-Latella, and his children, Matthew Holman and Elizabeth (David Skaggs II) Long; grandchildren, Wyatt Long, Jacob Long, and Emerson Skaggs; brother, Rick (Soraya) Latella; sisters-in-law Connie (Bill) Bevard, Cathy Bell, Candida (Sandbrink) (Tom) Marietta, Christina (Jim) Glaser, Sandra Grubb, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whom he adored greatly.

Freddie was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Shoaf, his niece, Kelsea Glaser, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Catherine and Joseph Sandbrink, and his brother-in-law, Tom Grubb.
