A funeral service celebrating the life of Frances Ann “Meme” Perry, age 85, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will take place in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, and also from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday, March 16, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Frances Ann was born April 27, 1937 in Spring Hill, West Virginia to the late Rev. Carl and Verna Myrtle (Hill) Richards. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
Ann retired from the Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church at the age of 80 where she had been the church secretary for many years. She had also been employed with the Newark Police Department in the Forensic Lab and worked for many years at Wonder Bread.
Ann was a member of the Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies and was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes football. The light of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Vicki (Rick) Vanover of Newark, Donald Franklin “Frank” (Helen) Perry of Lithopolis, Jeffrey Rogers (Kim Moore) of Washington Court House, and Vanita (Kelly) Butler of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brandy Rogers of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Pim Richards of West Virginia; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; and her beloved dog, Toby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Oliver Perry, whom she married on September 6, 1969 and who passed away on August 26, 1996; a son, Johnny Rogers; a grandson, Cody Rogers; a sister, Euna (Carl) Eaton; and three brothers, Gene (Wanda) Richards, Bob (Mary) Richards, and Chuck Richards.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Inn at SharonBrooke who took such wonderful care of Ann.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church.
