Gilbert

Everett Jesse Ours, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on Monday, January 30, 1928, in Meigs Co, Ohio, Everett was a longtime resident of Hebron Ohio, where he lived surrounded by family and friends. He moved to Arizona several years ago to be closer to his daughter Daette and her family.

Jesse is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Daette Petrey, and her husband Ed Petrey, of whom he was immeasurably proud. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Travis McCullough and his wife Elizabeth, Lawrence Petrey and his wife Katie, and Nehemiah Petrey and his wife Marina. Jesse's great-grandchildren, Clayton, Gabriella, and Lucas McCullough, as well as Makenna, Maddon, Mylen, and Finnick Petrey, brought him endless joy and laughter.

Jesse was also cherished by his sisters Liz Morgan (Jerry) and Judy Dupler (Ron), as well as his brother Dale Ours. They shared countless memories and a lifelong bond of love and support. Jesse was also adored by many nieces and nephews. His dear friend Bill (LuAnn) Gulick also survives him.

Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved parents Everett and Zella Ours, his cherished wife, Pauline (Kay) Ours, and his dear daughter, Cindy Stemm. They are undoubtedly reunited now, wrapping him in their eternal embrace. His siblings Evelyn, Art, Bill, and Paul have preceded him in death as well as his infant brother Robert.

Educated at Garfield High School, Akron,  Jesse went on to establish a successful career as a self-employed contractor and realtor with Century 21 Realty in Licking County. His hard work and dedication left a lasting impact on the community he cherished in Ohio. A devoted member of many organizations, Jesse was actively involved with the Hebron Lions Club, was a 73 year member of Hebron Masonic Lodge #116 F & AM, whom he served as Worshipful Master in 1958; Wroena Chapter #597 Order of Eastern Star, and The Gideons. He was an active member of the Heath Church of Christ. His interests included flying, traveling, and spending quality time with his family, where he found his greatest happiness and contentment.

Jesse's family will receive friends on Thursday, June, 19, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow on Friday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m. in the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath.
