On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Emmons Stacy Brown, loving husband, father and Army veteran, passed away at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Emmons was born and raised in Maine, but then lived in various parts of the country, most notably, he spent 40+ years in Southern California and then his remaining seven in Illinois. He graduated from the University of San Francisco and spent his career working in Southern California. The most notable and sizable part of his life revolved around his beloved Maine Coon Cats. He was the proud breeder/owner of three different International Best Kittens over his 30 years as a breeder through the cattery “LAPD” along with many, many other International and Regional Winners. He was so proud to be a TICA (The International Cat Association) member and cat dad. His beloved cat “Leonard H PhD” was with him and wife Liz at the time of his passing. Emmons is survived by his wife Dr. Liz Brown, former wife and friend Lindy Brown, daughter Lynne (Hugo) Arellano of El Paso, TX, his cherished Maine Coons Willie, Leonard, Soriana, Etta, Chloe, Trixie and Bella, his sister-in-law Diane Brown, brothers Ed and Stacy Pooley and his TICA friends/family. Preceded in death by his parents, Dora Stacy Pooley and George (Betty) Brown, and brother James Brown.
In lieu of flowers, Liz requests that donations be made to Team One Step (Camp One Step) to benefit children with cancer. Liz will be running the 2023 Chicago Marathon in memory of Emmons and to support this very worthy cause.
A celebration of Emmons Life will be held on March 11, 2023 in central Ohio following the SHOWCATS:Columbus TICA show. Please R.S.V.P. to Rick Hoskinson: [email protected] if you plan on attending.
