A graveside service celebrating the life of Elisa Darlene Simpson, age 64, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Granville with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Elisa was born July 25, 1962 in Tollesborro, Kentucky. She passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Elisa enjoyed playing games on her phone, watching OSU Buckeyes football, and watching her favorite soaps, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.

She is survived by her father, Robert Sponseller of Newark; brothers, William Sponseller, Keith Sponseller, and Roger Sponseller; many nieces and nephews; and good friend, Mary Sponseller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Simpson; mother, Mabel I. (Carver) Sponseller; and a brother, Darrell W. Sponseller.
