Edward Neil “Skip” Trent, age 71, of Newark, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Skip was born August 10, 1953 in Lebanon, Indiana to the late Henry Ray and Elva Ruth (Sparks) Trent.
Skip had a long and dedicated career in the Parts and Service Industry. Known for his enthusiasm for shooting, Skip was a dedicated gun hobbyist. His passion extended to building and drag racing motorcycles, which he crafted with exceptional skill and detail. A creative spirit at heart, Skip also enjoyed assembling model cars and trucks. Skip found joy in watching NASCAR and NHRA races, often with a cold Miller Lite in hand. He also had a great affection for cats and shared many stories over the years of his favorite pets. His family and friends will fondly remember him and miss him greatly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Ann (Haner) Trent; son, Michael Trent; daughter, Patricia Trent; granddaughter, Sophia Trent; nephew, Phillip (Pam) Drake; and a great-niece and a great-nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Karol Trent and Kathleen Trent.
The family will have a celebration of Skip's life at a later date.
