Douglas C. Arnold

July 15, 1953 — May 15, 2025

Newark

Douglas C. Arnold of Newark, Ohio, passed away at his home on May 15th, 2025. Doug was not a typical man. He was strong and protective, always ensuring that his family felt safe and loved. He was an outspoken man who had no filters. He was known for his quick wit and smart mouth. Even though he was bold and raw, he was loved and respected by family and friends.

Doug served in the United States Navy from July 1970 to May 1974. He received an honorable discharge.

Doug was the neighborhood handyman. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He enjoyed spending time in his garage and visiting with friends and neighbors. He was always building something. In the summer, he plowed the neighbors' gardens and worked on their tractors and mowers. In the winter, after a snowfall, he would get up early and plow the snow from their driveways and the street. He enjoyed helping people.

Doug enjoyed watching old westerns, collecting John Wayne memorabilia, and NHRA. He also enjoyed doing projects and spending time with his daughter Marcy.

Doug was born on July 15th, 1953, to the late Harriett Stephenson Arnold. He grew up in Mineral, Ohio.

Doug will be missed by his friends and by the people he loved most: Carolyn; his saintly wife who he married on June 26, 1999; his daughter, Marcy Lucas; grandchildren, Audrey and Anna Lucas; his bonus daughter, Rhonda Abbott; grandchildren, Kiera Peterson, Shaila (Brandon) Proctor, Jared, Jacob, and Aleah Peterson; and his fur baby, Lilly. We were all blessed to be loved by him.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hugh Arnold, and a sister, Ronda Gambill. He is survived by a brother, Kasey Carruthers of Pace Florida, and good friend, Tom Finkle.

Doug is also survived by two people that he was very opinionated about: his son in law F Scott Peterson, and future son in law F Orville Graham. Never a man quite good enough for his girls!

Per Doug's request no services will be held.
